Todd M (Master Sgt) POPOVIC

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Todd M. Popovic recently re-enlisted for five years.
Popovic is the 48th Recue Squadron superintendent of operations at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona.
Popovic, an Erie native, graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1993. He graduated from Air Force basic training in May 1994. He was then assigned to the 343rd Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, to complete the security-police training academy course.
After graduating as an outstanding performer in September 1994, Popovic served in various security police roles until he was recruited into pararescue while representing Air Combat Command's security forces team during the Peacekeeper Challenge at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico in 1997.
Popovic graduated from the pararescue school in September 1999, and reported to the 321st Special Tactics Squadron at the Royal Air Force Base in Mildenhall, England.
In 2003, he was assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia, where he served as a pararescue craftsman and flight chief.
Popovic was then assigned to the Pararescue and Combat Rescue Officer School at Kirtland Air Force Base. During that assignment, Popovic served as a pararescue academic instructor and as the operations superintendent. Popovic was selected Air Combat Command's pararescueman of the year for 2006 and the Air Education and Training Command's senior non-commissioned officer of the year for 2010.
Popovic's decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal with Valor, Air Force Achievement Medal and the Naval Achievement Medal.
Popovic also has earned the Global War on Terror Service Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Air Force Combat Action Medal and the Humanitarian Medal.
Popovic is the son of Claudia Popovic, of Millcreek Township, and Bob Popovic, of Summit Township.
