Helen Aline SANDSTROM Bellingham DECEASED § 3/26/23-1/7/17

Helen Sandstrom Bellingham, age 93, of Erie, died on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was born on March 26, 1923, in Erie, daughter of the late Eric J. and Signe V. Anderson Sandstrom.
A lifelong resident of Erie, she graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1940, and worked as a secretary for General Electric Corp. for 22 years, retiring in 1978. Helen was a member of Luther Memorial Church and had been a long-time member of the former Bethany Lutheran Church where she served on church council and the Evangelism Committee. She was proud of her Swedish heritage and belonged to SVEA Lodge, No. 296, VASA Order of America and was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, East Erie Turners Ladies Auxiliary and Lake View Country Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Raymond T. Bellingham, in 1998. Survivors include a son, Thomas Bellingham of Conneautville, Pa.; three daughters, Susan Agens, Nancy Serwinski (Thomas) and Patricia Bellingham, all of Erie; two sisters, Signe E. Webb of Erie and Edith C. Christenson of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends called at the Scott Funeral Home, and attended a service there with The Rev. William Coleman, of Luther Memorial Church officiating. Private burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Husband Raymond T. Bellingham obit
Raymond T. "Moose" Bellingham, 82, 2647 Willowood Drive, and formerly of 402 Lake Ave., died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at Hamot Medical Center. He was born in Wesleyville, October 29, 1916, son of the late Thomas and Rhoda Gaffney Bellingham.
He was a 1935 graduate of Wesleyville High School and attended Westminster College. He retired from General Electric Co. in 1980 after 42 years. He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and coached basketball.
He was also a member of Lake View Country Club and G.E. Quarter Century Club,
He played basketball for numerous teams. He played for Wesleyville High School, Wesleyville Rotary, City Basketball League, Moose Club, Times City League and the Dispatch League. He played semi-pro basketball for Post Jewelers, Erie, in 1944. His pro career included playing for House of David, New England, under the name Moose Murphy; Corry VFW (1946 to 1948); Erie Pro All Stars; Admirals (All American Professional League), Erie; and Froess Top Flites, Erie.
He and his family were featured in Parade Magazine in October, 1955.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Bellingham, and a stepbrother, James Averill.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Sandstrom Bellingham; a son, Thomas Bellingham of Conneautville; three daughters, Susan Agens, Nancy Serwinski, and her husband, Thomas, all of Erie, and Patricia Stickner and her husband, Robert, of Cranesville; a sister, Helen Witterauer of Sarasota, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St., today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Randall F. Peters Jr. and the Rev. Melville A. Sjostrand, both of Bethany Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
