Today's Featured Biography
Richard Clair COX Phd
I served in the U.S. Army from October 1955 to October 1957. I was a radio repairman, and was sergeant when honorably discharged. It was, as they say, a life-changing period of my life.

Hi Dave,
Its Richard Cox, and since I am somewhat (actually mostly) a tech illiterate, I am going to send you some info about me and hope you can post it on the Delaware Avenue website if you think anyone would be interested. My father was Albert C.Cox and my mother was Margaret. I had two sisters, Marilyn and Peggy. All are deceased. We moved into the project (that is what we called it) sometime in 1945 after my father returned from World War 2. I think we were there, at 1226 Custer Drive for 4 or 5 years. My first memory was being bussed to Emerson grade school because Harding, which was within walking distance, was not accepting "project trash". So I always brag that I was bussed before the civil rights movement. For 7th grade we walked the railroad tracks to Strong Vincent until we moved. People I remember include close neighbors the Andersons, daughter Karen, the Donahues, the Bauer and the Parshells. Also Vince Series, Dick Latimer and Sarah Glass, also Joey LaPlaca. Hope I haven't missed anyone or misspelled any names, after all I am 80. Some memories include: hot water tanks blowing up and starting fires (hated to hear those sirens), going to Delaware Ave Baptist Church sometimes, fishing in a little stream where the West Erie Plaza now is, picking elderberries along the tracks, planting flowers in front on our pathetic front yard, and taking the bus everywhere. We did not have a car. I did not become governor😄but after working at the GE as an apprentice machinist and draftsman, serving 2 years in the US Army, I attended Edinboro state, Michigan Stat U, where I earned a PhD., and taught at Pitt for 35 years ending as a Professor retiring in 1999. I now live in Cranberry Township near Pittsburgh. Wow, guess that's a bit long winded! I wonder if anyone remembers me ?

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
