I left for college after graduation, met my husband Richard there and we were married in '61. I graduated with a degree in Education (English & Spanish) in 62, worked at Security People's Trust Co- for a year- I had worked there summers all through college.
Wendy was born in '63; she is now an RN living in Wilmington, NC, married to Johnny, a native North Carolinian, and mother of Lindsey- 2 and 1/2.
Mindy was born in '66; she is a high-school teacher-French, Spanish, Sign Language and Computers at Halifax SD in eastern PA. She lives in Northumberland, PA.
Dick Lorah was diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkins) in '69- he survived, but it got me to thinking about contunuing my education.
Leslie was born in '70; she is now a Physical Therapist at SV's, married to Tom, mother of Lorah, almost 12, Samantha, 8 and Kenneth, almost 6 They live in Erie.
I started grad school at Edinboro in '72, going part time, working toward an M.ED. During my grad school days, Rick was born in '74. He is a graduate of WVU, and an Erie City Police Officer.
I finished my masters in '75 and started working part time as a counselor at Villa College; I could take Rick to the campus lab school a couple of days a week. Worked there, also teaching part-time in the continuing ed department until '81 when I took a job in the training department of Erie Insurance. After 2 years at EI, I worked at Gannon as Director of adult education, then at The Chamber of Commerce planning North Coast Business Week, then for a marketing consulting firm running focus groups, then for the United Way as Director of Hotline, an information and referral service.
In 1985, I started my own Human Resource Consulting Firm, called LML Associates, and I have been doing training and development for business and industry ever since. Mostly I work in Manufacturing and Health care and do training with Self-Directed work Teams and Management and Supervision in Problem Solving, Customer Service, Leadership, Conflict Management, Negotiating, Managing Change, etc.
Dick died of lung cancer in 1995, so the past 15 years I have been on my own, traveling, working, and volunteering in church and community. Do you remember when we were dating and you took me to the synogogue at my request? I have always been interested in different theologies, belief systems, etc. (different from my own I mean) - I am still that way- searching, I guess. In September, I joined a group of eight other women who were hiking in Wales for two weeks. It was a fabulous and exhausting experience. I didn't know that Wales is all mountains- truly a lush green country. Anyway, the trip to Hawaii was fabulous, it truly is a paradise- it smells of flowers and there are rainbows almost every day. Marilyn (Mele) was a great hostess. The mini-reunion was as fun and interesting as I knew it would be. It was so great to see classmates and how well they have aged and matured.
I can truly say that the group that made it to Darryl's beautiful home in San Diego looked great - nowhere near the 70 years of age that has come to us all. Well, this has gone on much longer than my e-mails usually do, but I am interested in hearing from people, so will copy this to others that I think might be interested. Take care. Hugs, Linda
