DIEHL, LEWIS W. 11/26/2007 obit:
Lewis W. Diehl Lewis W. Diehl, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at his home following a brief illness. He was born April 20, 1918 in North East, Pa., son of the late Carl and Gertrude Black Diehl. He resided in the Erie area all of his life. Lewis was a graduate of Lawrence Park High School in 1936. He worked at Boyd & Schafer for 47 years and was presiding officer following the death of Bert Schafer. He retired in 1987. Lewis was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church; a member of Lawrence Lodge #708 F. & A.M. Erie Consistory Valley of Erie, Zem Zem Shrine, the Zem Zem Motor Corps, Koinonia of Erie County and past member of the Royal Order of the Jesters Court #58. He was one of the founders of the Presque Isle Yacht Club, a life member of the Erie Maennerchor Club and Siebenbuerger Club.
He enjoyed hunting, boating, camping, snowmobiling and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Eleanore Duncombe Diehl whom he married on May 4, 1945. They celebrated their 62nd Anniversary this year. His survivors include two daughters, Patricia Heidecker and husband Jim and Sandra Copen and husband Darl; six grandchildren, Robyn Heitzenrater, Lori Wheeler, Steven Heidecker, Holly Shick, Kurt Heidecker and Christy Bishop; and four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Faith, Shane and Emma; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother Jerold Lytle.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there Wednesday at 10 a.m. officiated by Rev. G.H. Trumbo. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Lawrence Lodge #708 will hold a Service at the Funeral Home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
