Marilyn J. Ferraro Marilyn J. Ferraro, age 64 of Erie, died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at her residence. Marilyn was born in Erie on October 13, 1945, daughter of the late, Cyrill and Mildred Casey Schmitz. She graduated from Academy High School in 1963. Upon graduation, Marilyn worked at American Sterilizer starting as a receptionist and in 16 years worked her way up to becoming the first woman manager in the company. She was in charge of foreign and college accounts. Marilyn also worked at Toys R Us, and from 1992 until the present, has been the office manager of the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Erie. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church, St. Mary's Home Auxiliary, St. Mark's Seminary Auxiliary, and past president of the Mt. Olivet Commandery Auxiliary.
She was also an avid bowler and loved her many cats. Survivors include her devoted husband of 43 years Jesse "Jay" Ferraro; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Julie; and two grandchildren, Michael and Theresa, of whom she was extremely fond. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Schmitz and his wife, Sally; two sisters, Barbara LaPrice and her husband, Chester, all of Erie, and Katherine Hido, of Painesville, Ohio.
Further survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Debbie Ferraro, of Waterford, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Ave., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace, 2401 West 38th Street at 10 a.m.
Burial in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
