Karmela Bays Rotter

I started at Edison immediately following HS thinking I would become a nurse. Luckily for patients, the older I got the more I realized this wasn't my calling. I met Chad in 1993 and we married in January of 1995. We are still married today- celebrated our 17 year anniversary in January.

After getting married, we moved to Iowa (close to Cedar Rapids and Iowa City- go Hawkeyes!). It was a tough transition for about a year; however, the schools here are amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed my job at MCI. I started in the call center and worked my way up to a national support position back in 2005 and have since transitioned to managing call centers from a quality perspective. I am almost done with business management and marketing degree and plan on continuing classes until someone tells me there are none left to take.

Kids take up most of my free time with their sports, school activities and hobbies. Watching my oldest start HS this last fall was interesting to say the least. Gabby, Gray and Addison all stay busy with at least one sport and enjoy hobbies such as shopping, volleyball, dance and Softball for the girls and hunting/fishing & baseball for Gray.

My most recent adventure was becoming certified to instruct Jazzercise. This takes me back to my love of show choir kind of dancing, yet incorporates calorie burning, strength training and stretching all into 60 minutes of class time. I teach 3-4 times a week and when I am not teaching I either take a class or enjoy running, hiking or finding some other activity with the family to stay busy.

I love snow, cold and Iowa. My parents were finally convinced to move here and live nearby back in 2005. They were not overly excited about the weather to start, but have settled in nicely and enjoy the time they get with my kids. There is no way I could ever imagine raising a family, working full time, working as an instructor and taking classes without their support.

Looking forward to catching up with people after 20 years of life have passed since our 1992 graduation. Oh the things I have learned, the main one being- life is an opportunity to continually learn new things about yourself, life and others. See you soon!
