Today's Featured Biography
Gary Vahue
After graduation, I attended Manatee Jr, College in Bradenton, FL. After one year, I was tired of school, so I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Before leaving Ft. Myers, I received my notice from the Army, but my Air Force recruiter got me out of the Army. Once in the Air Force, I find out that they have all kinds of schooling. From the frying pan into the fire you say? But all was good and had a really great almost 21 years in the military. Some may remember I married Dusty Hall. We had one girl, Ivy Marie in November 1969. Shortly thereafter we were divorced and I will leave that as is, if you know what I mean Vern! I remarried for #2 while still in Wichita Falls, an enlisted gal from Ohio. # 2 lasted about 2 also, not too lucky so far in marriage. LOL We departed ways in Charleston, SC before I was assigned to Clark AB, in the Philippines. That’s where I finally hit the jackpot, finding Lerna and getting married to her. While coming back from the Philippines in 1977, I ran into Stuart Campbell in a terminal. He was in the Air Force too at that time. (Side bar: Maybe it was not Stuart since he got out in 1974. Time does take it's toll on the old brain) Small world as they say. On our second tour to the Philippines, we adopted Lerna’ nephew from her second sister. Adley is now in the Air Force, and doing so much better than his old man. He is an airborne linguist, primary language is Farsi, secondary language is Afghan Dari, and is doing some self-study on Pashtu. Yes, he speaks English too as well as Spanish. He is stationed in Fort Walton Beach right now (2016) so Lerna and I get to visit Florida via I-10 and I-75 when we go south to visit Ivy and Eric, her husband. I do not travel much anymore, I have a couple of military disabilities, service connected, non-combat related that keep me from flying, and driving now days is, as you know, taking your life in your own hands. I am total retired now, doing some yard work, cooking and cleaning to keep busy. Lerna works part time, she’s and escort!!!! OH! I should say she is a security escort for a contracted company by NSA here in San Antonio, TX. So hello to everyone out there. Gary

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
