Today's Featured Biography
Catherine Bahruth Makinson
I know, I know, why haven't I come to any reunions??? Have you ever visited the mountains of Western NC, why would anyone want to leave? Not to mention for years being busy with children:) Almost came last year but had a conflict. I promise to do better next time!
So, to bring my friends up to date. John and I are married 30 years this year. I am the Budget Officer for the Dept of Social Services, here 15 years, going to work after children were in school. John was a contractor and became pastor of our church, Franklin Covenant Church, full time for 15 years(www.franklincovenantchurch.com - you can see a recent picture of us). We love living here in the mountains, have a big house if anyone is passing through and needs a place to stay. We love to be hospitable! Our family is grown, our two girls are married. Suzanne married to Wes (both pole vaulters for Appalachian State, Suzanne holds the records, was ranked 13th in NCAA) live in Orlando. Emily married to Edwin is in the Air Force for one more year, totalling 8, have our 3 grandchildren: Ellie, Evan and Everett, live in Valdosta but wanting to move to Asheville where they both graduated from Mars Hill. Jonathan, our oldest lives in Franklin. Stuart our youngest, 23, finishing his MBA at Milligan college in May, did pole vault and decath for App State two years, then transferred to Milligan to play soccer his favorite of many sports, going to NAIA nationals last year and hoping to return this year, ending his college sports.
My parents and most of my siblings are still in Ft. Myers. We were there August 2006 for their 50th anniversary but don't get down often. If we do come to Florida, we go to John's sister's huge ranch in Okeechobee: Brady Ranch or to their lakehouse in Lake Placid or to Lake Dora where Suzanne and Wes' family have a lakehouse.
The only thing I think I miss about Ft. Myers is the beach so many of our vacations are at the beach whether it be the Caribbean (my favorite), the outerbanks of NC or Hunting Island, SC and several SC beaches because they are the closest.
Paul Asmuth: My Dad gave me the message, had not idea of your sports career...we have so enjoyed our childrens' college sports and yes, I am their number 1 fan and we have gone all over the country watching them jump on that long stick way up into the air or soccer...it has been fun....now on to our next season of life....it gets better and better! The Lord has been good to us. Cathy

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
