Today's Featured Biography
Charles Engelhardt
Greetings to all the Class of 78 grads. After graduation I attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky where I graduated with a BA in 1982 where I majored in Bible. I also meet my wife whose intials were KJV so I spent most of my time studying the Bible or Kayla. Two weeks after graduation Kayla and got married in here home town of Portland, Indiana. After those two big events we returned to Wilmore, Kentucky where I began Seminary at Asbury Theological Seminary. In 1985 I graduated with a Master of Divinity degee. In November of 1982 I started pastoring two little country churches while in Seminary in Defoe and Gest, Kentucky. They were special little churches that were very patient with young green pastors. Upon graduation we returned to Florida and I became a minister in the United Methodist Church, first serving as an associate pastor in Englewood, Florida then in 1987 the UM church sent me to a vacant lot in Riverview/Ruskin area south of Tampa to start a New Church. What an adventure. The church was established as the Big Bend United Methodist Church and we grew that church for seven years. In June of 1994 we moved our family that had now grown to include our 3 sons to the Largo area of Pinellas County to become the pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for the last 13 years. Kayla was an at home mom until 7 years ago when she began teaching Elementary School at Keswick Christian School in St. Petersburg. She is presently a second grade teacher. Kayla also leads worship at our contempory service and leads two Bible studys with women and high school girls. Our oldest son, Adam graduated from Keswick Christian in 2003 and went on to Full Sail in Orlando, recieving his AA in Recording Arts. He now lives in Nashville and works as a sound enginneer with Sony Studio. This past June, I had the privliege of officiating at his wedding where he wed Carrie Clancy from our church. Blake, our middle son graduated this past May 2006 also from Keswick and is a Freshman at Middle Tennessee State and is a quarterback with the team. Ethan, our youngest is a tenth grader at Keswick and is into everything. He is a leader in our youth worship band.
Life is very exciting for the Engelhardt's. The Lord has blessed us over the years in many ways and I look forward to renewing friendships with the class of 78.
