Today's Featured Biography
Bill Eberhardt
After graduation, I attended Duke University for two years, majoring in Civil Engineering; and then transferred to the University of Florida for one semester of Architecture. In 1963, I enlisted in the Air Force, was trained as a radio technician, and served at Edwards AFB, CA; Clark AB, Philippines; and Tan Son Nhut (Saigon) South Vietnam. I took my discharge in 1966 in Saigon, and went to work for a US Govt. contractor, and installed and maintained communications equipment on Army bases throughout Vietnam and Thailand.
I returned to the USA in 1968, met and married my wife, Susan, on Ft. Myers Beach; and we moved to Los Angeles, where I finished up my education at the University of Southern California (BS-Finance, 1970; MBA, 1971). From 1970 - 1990 I worked as a bond analyst/portfolio manager for The Capital Group, a large institutional money manager based in LA. I was off for a couple of years dealing with lower back problems, and then went to work as an Investment Officer for the Orange County Treasurer's Office for five years (post-bankruptcy; assisted in stabilizing their investment pool). In 2000, I went to work as an investment credit analyst for WesCorp, a corporate credit union, and I retired from that job in 2012.
Susan and I have two boys, who are now in their 40s and well on their own. Mike & Anabelle were married in 2009, had their first daughter, Valentina, in September 2011, and their son, Raphael in 2014; and live in London, UK where he works as a financial analyst. Brian & Shannon were married in 2002 and have three boys, Braden (12), Tanner (9) and Carson (6); and they live in Eastvale, CA and he works as a police dispatcher. The local grandkids keep me pretty busy watching their baseball and soccer games.
While raising our kids, Susan worked part-time as an animal health technician in our Vet's small clinic. About the time kids came along, we also got our first dog, a Labrador Retriever. Susan showed her and worked her in both obedience and the field, and we eventually bred her. Our dog numbers grew and we have enjoyed a hobby of showing and breeding our dogs for over 40 years.
Susan had the bad luck of contracting lung cancer (she never smoked) in 2010 and we fought that nasty disease for four years. She passed away in December 2014 at the very young age of 68. I miss her terribly. I expect to continue to do some traveling and raise our Labradors.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
