Today's Featured Biography
Kim Appleby
Left Fort Myers in 1976 and returned to my Canadian roots. I live in Hamilton, Ontario, which is between Toronto and Niagara Falls.
In 1988/89 I took an 18 month sabbatical from work to travel Africa, Nepal, Thailand, India and Tibet. Climbed Kilimanjaro (I don't recommend it), visited Everest Base Camp (in the winter-silly me!). Worked in Mother Theresa's shelter in Kathmandu (I recommend it).
Left my career in 1997 to (finally!) have a child....then wanted more, so my husband and I fostered kids for the Catholic Children's Aid Society.I fostered and taught for CCAS for 15 years. That ended with the pandemic.
I now spend most of summer (sea kayaking) and winter (skiing) at our cabin further north near Parry Sound Ontario & Georgian Bay. Im only in the city in "off seasons".
Seeking Adventure is in my soul & Im happiest when Im "out there" discovering new places. Luck has been with me and Im still able to do it, but I know the clock is ticking.
