Today's Featured Biography
Cheryl Boyd Sarfas
After high school, I went on to Memphis State and completed my bachelor degree in Commercial Music - Studio/Live Vocal Performance, then took a break from education for a year 1/2 working in a law office. I returned to the newly named "University of Memphis" in 94-ish and began prerequisites in Physical Therapy and basically fried my brain from information overload in a long summer session. I worked doing entertainment and stage production with Miss Arkansas USA pageants for a couple of years while also working fulltime in a dental office doing everything from front desk to insurance to chairside assisting. (Take care of your teeth, folks.) In 1995, I began travelling every weekend as part of a gospel trio in Northeast AR and the MO bootheel for a few years, recording a couple of projects which actually hit some music chart somehwhere in Florida (go figure) and had a great time singing with a few bigtime people in the Southern Gospel realm. In the meantime, I also took a part-time job as a paid singer at Christ United Methodist Church. In 1999, I made my first trip to England (dream come to fruition), came back, met a wonderful guy from Scotland online (not in a chat room, thank you), and we married in April 2001. Started fulltime at CUMC that same year and am currently still there on staff. Pete and I built a house in Oakland and moved there almost 3 years ago and enjoy the quiet life outside the concrete jungle with our sweet doggie. Sorry for the epic here, but I've been busy since 1988! Find me on MySpace and drop a line--would love to hear from you.
