Sherrill Carter Smithey
Wow has it been that long since we graduated. Before I begin, let me tell you all that the year and a half I spent at Bartlett beat out all the other years I was in school....you all were very welcoming, warm and friendly and I thank you for all of the fond memories.
I graduated from Draughon's Business College and worked for Lansky Brothers while there. Dr. Webster Riggs hired me and I worked for him as his Business Manager at LeBonheur Hospital until my husband and I along with our two boys moved in 1981 to his hometown of Humboldt, TN. In Humboldt I worked for Jones Companies, Ltd. in accounting.
Chuck spent most of his years in trucking management and sales. We also had a promotional products business and an embroidery and silk screening business as well.
In 2002 my husband felt God calling him into the ministry....we sold our home and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he attended and graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary...Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
We spent our Vicarage year in McMinnville, TN - boy were we glad to get back home to TN....our first church was Immanuel Lutheran in Hazelgreen, AL, however, we were able to remain in TN....we bought property in Fayetteville, TN....only to stay there 18 months....it is for sale now...anyone interested?
God saw fit to call us to Our Savior Lutheran in Columbus, MS....we were sad to leave TN, but Columbus is just a beautiful old Southern town...we love it.
I have not worked since we left Fort Wayne...I miss the contact with people....my mother is living with us and I am her only caregiver which is quite a challenge at this stage of her life.
Sam and Jesse graduated from UTK and reside in Knoxville now.
Jesse with his wife of 5 years and great news....we just found out we are to be grandparents.....sometime in the fall.....we can hardly wait...
Sam who has a girlfriend of 5 years and has yet to ask her to marry him....
Jesse is a sportswriter for the Knoxville News Sentinel....Sam is in upper management with 21st Mortgage.
