Today's Featured Biography

Jim Howard

I teach all levels of Graphic Design at Central York High School. Next year marks ten years of teaching for me.

My wife, Emily and I lived in East York for five years, then moved to Dallastown in 2005--it's amazing how many people I've run into. In 2007 we moved again. Now we're in Red Lion. I think we'll stay in this house.

Here are some class of ‘93 memories...all took place after high school. There was the bar fight at Murph's when Shane Dill danced too close to a young York College girl. I believe Chad Stine, Ryan McGurk, John Jackson, Eric Hartman, and Neil Barnes were there. I think Mr. Murphy announced that the whole crowd was banned for life. I went back--ran into Mike Gruver. He bought me a scotch on the rocks. I still don't really like scotch.

Since then I've run into Chad Stine a few times (name's on billboards all over town) and I saw Ryan large as life for a bank advertisement. I always knew he could be a model.

I see Lenny Spagnola at Vito's. We go quite often. He makes the world's finest Chopped Steak with cheese.

Missy Warner (Shirey) and Scott Shirey live in our old neighborhood and we go to the same church too! I just saw Missy's sister (not just on TV) at the movie theater.

Years ago I ran into Mike Shearer's mom at Giant. She says he's too busy to call. I came home from the store and called my Mom.

I ran into Mandy Howdyshell at Tailgaters. It was a quick hello, but a nice one.

My brother-in-law is Jason Heilman (class of 1992). Besides the family get-togethers, we play some golf and now, thanks to my woodworking skills, cornhole. (Look it up, it's a fun game).

Barrett Snyder and I chatted via email recently--we're Linkedin!

Jason recently took us along for the annual Anderson family picnic--more 1992 grads and beyond. There in attendance were Mike and Sam Estill along with Chad VanPelt, one of the Barleys and a Bogary or two.

That's the latest as of Summer 2008.

More stories will no doubt come to mind. I'll stop back and add more later.
