Today's Featured Biography
Karen Moore
Oh wow--I am just a different person after 40 years--aren't we all? I have worked usually as a bookkeeper, financial controller and insurance agent. Those jobs take a long time to acquire, so in-between I waitressed, made donuts, sold puppies, and other odd jobs.
I was married twice, but mostly raised the girls alone. I've lived in Kansas, Georgia, Baltimore, Hagerstown, York, and now Bethlehem.
Seven years ago, I met a man online from Bethlehem and liked him. After awhile I found out he came from Jacobus! Remember Dr. Heller and his family? So I married Chris Heller and have been very happy. Moving to Bethlehem was hard because I missed my grandchildren. Chris and I became and are now foster parents. We have had lots of kids, but one special boy who has been here for the duration--four years--and he is like our own son. My life is so great with Chris and these kids. I really still enjoy being a mom.
Last year I had cancer and we thought I might not make it, but I did. It has really changed my outlook on life, for the better. (I wouldn't recommend it though, as a life altering experience per se)
I have been active in many religions and have finally settled on the Quakers in my old age. I was until recently a Unitarian Universalist, but they have a reputation for talking a lot. It's nice and quiet where I go now, a nice change from home.
My grandkids live in Felton with their mom. They are Jessica's children, Rachel 18, AJ(a boy) age 14, and Mercedes age 13. Jessica works as a school nurse in York. Mary just recently moved to Bethlehem to live on our third floor and help me out while she works at the Giant food store.
I often wonder about the other kids at school and where they are and who they became. Chris and I look forward to seeing you at the reunion.
