After undergraduate work at Stanford and graduate school at the University of Wisconsin (without finishing a doctorate) I taught economics in the University of Wisconsin system while consulting with Bank of Hawaii's international banking division. Eventually the bank made me an offer to stay and a couple decades flew by. I'm the bank's economist, doing financial math and playing talking head. I get side job at UH (where I finished my doctorate), teaching economic theory, and try to represent Hawaii through banking industry and economic research organizations. My kids live in Denver with their mom and I spend as much time there as I can, and the boys with me on vacations. I thank Mrs. Lee for giving me the worst grade I ever got, in high school economics, in the hottest portable ever built; it worked out fine.
