Today's Featured Biography
Stewart Chun
I currently work in the Federal Documents Section, Hawaii State Library near Iolani Palace. When I graduated from Kailua High, I went to UH-Manoa and got a B. A. in Zoology. I then worked at Liberty Bank, ending as a Loan Representative, and at First Interstate Bank, ending as a Loan Officer. Through many twists and turns, I finally got my MLIS from UH-Manoa and was ultimately hired as a Librarian at the Hawaii State Library.
I feel lucky that I never had to leave Hawaii to find a job or an education. I didn't do much traveling out of state until 2000 for a library conference at Charlotte, N. C.
Thanks to Dean Stone, I'm now in touch with Arthur Ling, Elaine (Deby Moody) Root, Colleen Nevius and Lisa (Jewett) LIttle. Part of my cafeteria gang. We even had our own mini-reunion in Denver in 2003. Hopefully, we will have another reunion soon, when they come in for the 35th class reunion, and we can expand our class circle.
Update July 12, 2016
After working about 18 years at Hawaii State Library, about 16 years as Section Head of the Federal Documents Section, I have retired from meaningful employment as of July 1, 2016. Maybe now I will have the time to attend some of the upcoming class reunions.
