Today's Featured Biography
(Mary) Kate Missett
As noted above, my spouse of over 31 years, filed for divorce 3 weeks after our anniversary (on which date he said he loved me). I promise not to mention this too many times at our next reunion.
We had lived in Gillette for over 20 years; and, no it isn't a rough and tumble town like it used to be. It's pretty and has great public art. I was sorry to leave all my friends there, but, in light of the divorce, I moved back to Cheyenne on Halloween Day (my family had moved to Casper from Virginia, also on Halloween).
I have a lovely little brick home in a great mixed neighborhood--a throwback to the 60s. My neighbors watch out for me. We gather on people's sidewalks or driveways and visit. As an example of what a great neighborhood it is: on Aug. 30th last year, I broke my leg. One set of neighbors walked my dog every night for 2 months. They also took me to all my doctor appts. Other neighbors shopped, took in mail and newspapers and watered my yard while I was going through rehab.
My son and his family live in Highlands Ranch, SW of Denver proper. I knew it would be expensive to live in Colorado. And, as I have many friends in Cheyenne, it just seemed to be the logical choice. Matt is a marketing VP with a terrific workplace. Jenny is a stay at home mom for now. In her past she had been a kindergarten teacher. The grandkids are wonderful! I get down there about once a month-6 weeks.
I'll let you know more when we reunite for the 50th anniversary of our graduation! Oh, one more thing; it's okay to call me Mary Kate, even though I changed my name, in the late 70s.
