Today's Featured Biography
Paula Poynor
I have a new man in my life that I am over the top in love with that has changed my life for the better. But, let me start at the beginning...
I graduated from UW in education and, with my enlightened mind, I went on like Catherine Marshall's "Christy" into the back hills of my home state to change the world of intellectually starving children. I had ideas that no one had ever thought of before me (tongue-in-cheek). After teaching in Evanston, Wyoming and paying off my school loans, I left a little more disenchanted with "the establishment", but holding my fist high into the air "for the people".
I got married and continued to teach in Spain and back in Wyoming where we became parents to the most amazing baby girl, Taylor. We moved often after that, to North Carolina, Kentucky/Indiana, Dallas, and finallty Santa Fe, New Mexico, as my husband continued to get fired from job to job. After 29 years of marriage, I lost 300 pounds (my husband) and we divorced.
The light of my life, Taylor, graduated from college, got married, and became the Director of Christian Education at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Lubbock, TX. It's her dream job and I am incredibly proud of her.
I continue to fight the good fight for educational reform...with my fist in the air...wavy-wing-arms and all - "for the people". I am a Literacy Coach in the public schools of Santa Fe am convinced I will die in the classroom either from old age or a pink slip from "the establishment" saying I am too liberal!
So, back to the man in my life...Carson Rowley Lattimore is my four year-old grandson. After loving every minute of being a mother, I had no idea how much being "Gamsie" to Carson would make me love even more. Aren't grandkids the absolute best??
I plan on being at the reunion (thank you, Marsha, for all your efforts) and seeing everyone. I sure I look the same as does everyone else does!
