Today's Featured Biography
Lanette Dillenburg Baertschiger
John and I have celebrated 30 years of marriage. Egads! Doesn't seem like it.
We first lived in the Tri-Cities for the first three years. Then moved to Kirkland for the next three years. That's when we had Adam. We moved to the Belfair area and have stayed since. Naturally, that is when Adam was joined by his baby sister, Sara. John works for EDS (a computer company who have a contract with PSNS). I'm on my 17th year with North Mason School District currently at Hawkins Middle School as a ParaEducator, and I love doing what I do. I get to go home and enjoy my family and various pets, while we had them, and not have paperwork to do or deal with parents with the good/bad/ugly of their students school life.
I went to Olympic College for one year when somehow I applied and got a job with Kitsap County Public Defenders. The following year I re-met my husband John. We first met in what we laughingly call "the year of the seven streakers". Remember the "streaking"? We moved to Richland where I got a job with Rockwell Hanford Operations. John's company moved to Bellvue and we followed living in Kirkland. I then got a job with Eastside Brokers Association then with Commercial Investment Brokers Association. After three years I had the most beautiful thing happen! I gave birth to my son Adam and became a stay at home mom! John was laid off a month after Adam was born and we moved back to Belfair. He got a job at Keyport, laid off again. John then started working with ESD on contract with PSNS. When both our kids were in school all day, I got bored with being at home and started to volunteer with the school district, which turned into a job.
At one point we had quite a menagerie. We had two dogs, two cats, a rat, hedgehog (Harley was way to cool), tropical fish coming out the yingyang, and a lizard. We are down to the one cat.
Here in Belfair, we have just over an acre of land.
My daughter, Sara, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Pacific Lutheran University last May and is looking for work. She took the summer off, much to my dismay. Meanwhile she is living at home...again.
My son, Adam, just got out of the Navy (YEAAAAA). He was in an interpretor--Arabic and French. Adam loves anything that has to do with languages. He is currently taking his core courses with Olympic College then plans to move to a university. Which one I don't know. While he is doing this, he too, is living at home...again.
I have a full house! And loving it! At least I know they are both safe and healthy.
