Today's Featured Biography
Rachel Johnson Ebert
After graduating from Truman High School, I attended Southwest Missouri State on a basketball scholarship. In 2001, I graduated from SMS, now Missouri State, with a degree in journalism and a minor in computer information systems.
After graduation, I accepted a job as a computer programmer at the corporate office of Payless ShoeSoure located in Topeka, KS. While working at Payless, I met my husband, Jeff. In 2005, we married and we currently live in Topeka. Before I got married, I lived in Lawrence, KS, for 4 years. I’m approaching my five-year anniversary at Payless, which seems hard to believe because time flies by so fast. As my career has evolved, I spend less time computer programming and more time helping manage and design projects.
Before my husband started his job at Payless, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned his degree in meteorology. For three years, he worked as consultant meteorologist before deciding to go back to school at Kansas State University to get his degree in management information systems. Upon his graduation from K-State, he accepted a job as a computer programmer at Payless.
Even though my husband and I both work for the same company, we do not work on the same team so that keeps our professional lives separate from our personal lives. Still, I enjoy being able work in the same building as my husband and have someone who can relate to my job.
Since we just got married, we do not have any kids yet. However, we have one dog, Wizard – a dachshund, who is practically like our child. Some day in the future, we’ll add real children to our family.
My family still lives in Independence so I come back on a regular basis, but have lost touch with many THS classmates. Anyone who is interested, feel free to e-mail me. I hope all of you are doing well, and I am enjoying reading the web site to find out how fellow alumni are doing.
