Today's Featured Biography
Jennifer Yotz
I probably haven't had as colorful of a life as most of you, but what the heck....
After high school I went to Emporia State University and received a BS in Geology. I did some graduate work there, but then I took my show on the road and got my MS from Michigan Tech. While I was there, I studied volcanoes and the use of satellite imagery to monitor environmental changes (glaciers, volcanoes and all that happy crap.) I got to teach some geology courses while I was there, and do my graduate research in Guatemala. Thank you Mrs. Rice for all of those surprisingly useful spanish lessons.
I had a couple of nifty job opportunities after grad school, but for the most part I've been working as an environmental consultant cleaning up after big oil companies and now a major railroad company. Other than Kansas and Michigan, I've lived in Chicago (5 years), Los Angeles (1.5 years) and now in the redwoods outside of Santa Cruz. It's pretty sweet out here, and I don't even mind having to drive across the San Andreas Fault to get to work everyday.
On a personal note, I've been with my boyfriend Paul for almost two years now. He has a brain trust of a daughter named Maggie who will probably be the next JK Rowling. All in all, I guess I'm a pretty lucky chick. Hope all is well with the rest of you.
