Today's Featured Biography
Sylvia Penney Wesley
After HS graduation, I attended Keene State College and obtained an AD in Liberal Arts. I transferred to Cheshire Hospital School of Nursing and was there 3 years. I met my husband, Maurice, while doing a hospital rotation in Concord, NH. We married in June 1979, 3 weeks after I graduated from nursing school and moved to Portland, Maine in August the same year.
I worked a couple of years at Maine Medical Center and then had twins in 1981. After that, I worked at other area hospitals and then home care agencies, and as a Workers' Comp case manager. In 2004 I joined Health Dialog and currently work as a manager in their Quality & Compliance Dept.
My husband retired from UNUM a few years ago but works part time in security at the Maine Mall.
My brother David, also a 1974 GHS graduate, died of cancer 9/17/11. My dad, Robert, died in 1995 of cancer. My mom, Rita, is still kicking it in Littleton, NH. My brother Richard has a family and lives in Barnstead, NH and my sister Lisa Tetreault and her husband live in Groveton.
My son Justin lives in the Portland and married Nickole DeMerrit in 2015. My daughter Risa got married in March 2015 to Max Haskvitz and lives in Huntington Beach, CA. I go to the Burning Man festival every August with Risa, and we spend a week camping in the desert and having a ton of fun with 60,000+ other people from around the world.
