Today's Featured Biography
Dorothy Bickford Blythe
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend either the reunion nor the picnic. At this point in my life I don't feel up to driving that far by myself and although my daughters would, I know, drive me up, they do have commitments that would make it difficult for them to do so. Since the class of 1943 is being honored at this banquet I will send an e-mail in my place!
Following graduation from Groveton High I attended Northampton Commercial College and from there went to Pratt & Whitney where I worked until my oldest daugher was born. My husband and I raised three daughters who have been of tremendous support since George's death in 2012. The last eleven years of my working life I worked for the Director of Business Services for the East Hartford Board of Education having had a short stint working for Keebler Company (and its elves) and several years prior working as bookkeeper at a family-owned and operated sheet metal company while the girls
were young.
Church activities, Tai Chi, exercise classes, classes at our local Community College and some traveling have kept me busy since my retirement. Most recently I have been making dresses from pillowcases for little girls in Haitii----a really fun project (it's an international project called dress-a-girl-around-the-world, and I chose to do mine for Haitii.
George loved Elderhostel and he and I attended several together. Since he had retired earlier than I did, he had gone to many while I was working. My sister, Lorraine, and I went to England in the 70's and in later years took several Tauk Tours with my daughter joining us when her work permitted.
I hope that after the banquet there may be a newsletter that lists those who attended the banquet! I have lost contact with Anita Sheltry and would like her address if possible She and I left Groveton together on the train bound for Northhampton Commercial College many years ago!I I did see her at our 50th reunion and we did exchange Christmas cards for a while, but I haven't heard from her for some time. Sorry I can't make the banquet.
I wish all my former classmates the best and I shall send my dues to you shortly.
