Today's Featured Biography
Mary Maxwell Holt
After gradution in May, I married my high school sweetheart Forest Holt(class of 1980)in July 1981. I continued to work at Furr's Supermarket as a journeyman cashier and in 1984 my niece Wendy Harris(class of 1984)convinced me to start at WT with her in the fall. So I continued to work full-time and go to school full-time while trying to keep up with all the responsibilities of married life as well for the next 4 1\2 years! When I look back I really don't know how I did it all! It was very stressful and a lot of times I think I actually was sleep-walking through most of it!Ha! Upon graduating WT in the fall of 1988, I was about 2 months pregnant with out first child. I started teaching at Wolflin Elem. in January 1989 in a 3rd grade classroom where the teacher had decided to take a leave of absence to stay at home with her baby. It was such a rewarding experience for me! Needless to say the kids got to watch me blossom each month but I felt like they were just as excited about my baby as I was! It was a great bunch of kids and I won't ever forget them! After I delivered my darling baby boy in July of 1989, I decided to stay at home with him rather than go back to teaching. It was such a fun year for me with my son A.J.(Forest is into Nascar;can you tell by our son's name?Ha!) After that first year at home I had AISD call me and ask me about a part-time teaching job at Eastridge Elem. in the music dept.. Now music was not my concentration in college;however, since I had taken the elem.music class at WT and had some musical background the principle felt like I would be well qualified to teach this class. So after careful consideration and discussion with my husband and lots of prayer we decided it would be a great opportunity for me. It was absolutely a blast teaching 1st-3rd graders music! I adored those kids and made friends with some of the finest teachers in Amarillo! In 1994, I gave birth to my second darling son named Alex. He was absolutely a healing from God! That same summer he was born Forest lost his dad to cancer and my best friend(Melissa Stanley-Willburn,class of 1981) lost her mom. Then in September of that same year I lost my dad! It was quite a stressful 4 months from June to September! But God's grace is sufficient and His love never fails! In 1995, my husband decides he has had enough of State Farm and wants to own a body shop(his life-long dream)! So in 1996, we become owners of Southwest Body Shop,Inc. and I quit teaching to be the Vice-President/Secretary of the Corp. In other words, the office help!Ha! It has been a blessing to work beside my husband of almost 23 years and learn the ups and downs of owning your own business. It has not been easy but God has been faithful and we would be nothing without Him! So, if you ever have the misfortune of having an auto accident or being the brunt of a hailstorm or windstorm please give us the opportunity and pleasure of offering our services! Life has been quite an adventure since high school, but looking back I wouldn't trade any mountain or valley, any heartache or joy,any friend or foe,any success or failure, because with each one I have seen God's handiwork! God Bless!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
