Today's Featured Biography
Rik Andersen
After High School I attended Texas Tech for a year, Amarillo College for a few years (a couple of times) and West Texas State University, earning an associate's degree in Photography and a bachelor's degree in Applied Arts and Sciences. I am currently working on my Masters degree in Communications at WTAMU.
I've stayed close to home, I now live in Canyon and work at West Texas A&M University (Go Buffs!!!). I did live, if you can call it that, in Waco for a very short, dark period of time.
Photography has allowed me to explore many interests, including racing and music.
Not long after high school I started selling photographs at the drag strip to the other drivers to help finance my first race car, which was the same camaro I drove to Palo Duro (no, no, we never street raced during lunch...). I've since sold that car and have a rear-engine dragster.
Around 1977 I started taking photographs for a band called Blackstone. The next year they won a battle of the bands and opened the very first Texxas Jam. I was there. Since then I've worked with both local and touring bands such as The Amatones, New Congress, The Blue Johnnies, The Stand, The Russians, Legend Seven, Lazarus and Ice Cold July to name a few. Along with photography I did everything from changing guitar strings to running lights and sound.
Currently I work at WTAMU as the University Photographer. I've been here since 92. I met my wife Amy here, she is department head in the Education and is from the Houston area. We have two shelties, Molly and Bailey.
I have a small freelance business to help finance some of my interests. I shoot a few weddings a year but mainly do portrait work in the studio behind my house. Or on location.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
