Today's Featured Biography
Ludmila (Lucy) Dubovsky Jacob
I married the first time in 1964. That marriage ended in divorce in 1980. I was a single Mom for four years. Got my son, Paul through high school. I met Mert in 1983 and we were married in October of 1984. We are soul mates and have a great life together. The marriage gave me four children. It was an adventure being a step-mom. Lots of trials; but also many blessings.
Paul graduated from University of Indianapolis with a degree in Computer Information Systems in 1988. He and his wife completed there Master's Degrees in Marketing and Finance respectfully from University of Connecticut in 1996. Paul is Manages the Information Services for S G I in Indianapolis and his wife is the bookstore controller for IUPUI in Indiapolis. They have two sons, Jason and Tyler.
Son, Mike, is an inventory specialist for Longaberger Basket Company, Dresden, Ohio. Works in the office building that looks like a market basket. His wife is a freelance graphic designer. They have no children. Just two dogs and three cats.
Daughter, Susan, is a stay-at-home Mom for sons, Alex and Josh. Her husband Loren, works for Kodak in Rochester NY in the information systems Department. Great Christian family!
Son, David, works for Samaritan's Purse in Minneapolis MN for the Operation Christmas Child ministry. He got his degree in Youth Ministries for North Central Bible College. His wife Angie works part-time in a preschool for the mentally challenged. They have two boys, Sam and Luke. The whole family is blessed with various shades of red hair.
Mert's daughter, Tiffany, completed on year of college at North Central Bible College in 1992. On October 22, 1992 she was killed in an auto accident in Michigan. We miss her terribly, but know she is with her Lord and is happy.
I Worked in Banking for for 17 years before retiring in 1994. Before that I worked in an office environment for several corporations and businesses.
I've been Treasurer of our church since 1995. I oversee the financial aspects of our church and prepare all the monthly and year-end reports for the church board. It is very rewarding and gives me an outlet for my love of bookkeeping.
I've been a member of my church choir for 30 years. I sing in the soprano section and also sing solos for special occasions including funerals and weddings. Our town also has a Community Choir that performs a couple times a year. On September 11th we performed a patriotic concert at the the local High School. I was fortunate to be one of the featured soloist.
My husband and I are very proud of our six grandchildren (all boys). The oldest is 10 and the youngest is 9 mos. Son, Paul's family lives only 69 miles away, so we get an opportunity to spoil Jason (31/2) and Tyler (9mos) on a regular basis. Because we live on a lake, Jason calls my husband the"fishing papaw".
During the winter months I spend leisure time reading and working on needlework and sewing projects. It also gives me time to plan decorating projects. In the spring and summer we work in our large yard. I have several flower beds to tend and enjoy landscaping. There's always something new to add or something old to tweek. Keeps me out of trouble and provides some exercise.
My mother is now in a local nursing home and I oversee her care as her guardian. She has dementia so it takes a lot of patience and prayers to deal with her.
My husband, a pharmacist, still works part-time for a local chain store. He loves his profession. Says its not work. The extra dollars give us funds to travel. Last summer we took a land and cruise to Alaska. We've visited many of the Caribbean Islands and are planning a cruisetour of Australia next January.
I've managed to keep up with my ability to speak Russian over the years and it has given me an opportunity to help a Russian woman and her daughter assimilate to life here in Indiana. We've become very good friends (like sisters).
I've also dealt with some health issues. In 1993 I had a complete hip replacement of my left hip. (Remember how I limped back in H.S.?) The surgeon lengthened my leg enough that now my limp is almost completely gone. It made such a difference. However, because of the stress put on the right hip all those years, in 1999 I had to have the right hip replaced. --Just call me the "bionic woman"!
Unfortunately, arthritis is my "friend" now and I deal with some pain on a daily basis.
I feel very blessed to be able to get out of bed each morning and participate in life.
My faith is a very important part of my life and it gets me through whatever is thrown in my path. I look forward to my so called "golden years" with great anticipation.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
