Today's Featured Biography
Gail Markovics Davis
I married (Steven Ivy-class of 1972) in 1975, graduated from UMKC in 1976 and began teaching at Fort Osage in January 1977, while still working at the family store, Ivy Drugs. I continued teaching thru May 1979, and had our son Brandon in late June. Other than working at the family store, I enjoyed staying home with our son. Steve decided to get a pharmacy degree from UMKC in August '79, and I continued to stay home until the fall of '80. Then, I worked part time at Sears, full time at the Medical Center of Independence (in their laboratory), and still stayed at the family business. While Steve was in school again, we had our daughter in late June 1983. By this time, I had quit Sears (thank God!) and accepted a management position at the new outpatient Surgery Center owned by MCI called DaySurg. (Still at the family store though...) I left this position in July 1985 and only stayed at the family business...to become a true stay at home Mom, which I loved! At this time, we had also built our dream home in Blue Springs, which we moved into after Christmas 1984. With Brandon in James Lewis Elementary, I volunteered for his school, service organizations, and political affairs. I was named to the Board of Superintendants Round Table in Blue Springs, and the Board of Safety for the city of Blue Springs. Steve wanted to taste the Southwest lifestyle, and we left for Phoenix in June 1993. We built a home here on a beautiful Golf Course. Neither of us played of course, but it was a brand new area (much like our lifestyle in Blue Springs) and surrounded by the gorgeous Estrella Mountains and South Mountains. Steve passed away in June 1998. Since then, I have gone back to work at times (including working for the golf course we live on), and in the meantime have remarried - Richard Davis, from Raytown! (If anyone remembers, he did his student teaching at WCHS in the fall of 1971 as a music teacher with Mr. Elting and Mr. Hurst.) Brandon is married and has a home in Gilbert, Az. not too far from us;and Jennifer is attending college. Rich has 2 daughters - one still lives in Raytown where she attend Longview; and his oldest is married and living in the DC area now working for Raytheon. We travel a lot these days, finding our retreat from the world about every 6-7 weeks in Las Vegas. Tahoe is a frequent spot we drop in on to REALLY escape from Phoenix! We enjoy the travel which allows us to take in musical concerts and shows often.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
