60 Year Reunion Announcement!
Dance (yes, we've still got moves!)
Saturday,
August
29,
2026 - 7:00 pm
Richfield VFW Post 5555
TBD
It's difficult to believe this will be our 60th reunion. Time to get together & catch up. As we did at the last reunion, we'll have music, food, drinks & lots of stories to share. The State Fair starts that weekend as well. We will once again have group hotel rates with shuttle.
I left Richfield for Duke University in 1966 and barely returned. The summers of 1967,68 and 69 I mostly spent in Nicaragua, on a Duke University sponsored program that led to my career as an anthropologist. Upon graduating from Duke I road my bike to Washington DC for the summer, the intent being to save the State Department before I road my bike to Princeton, New Jersey, to start graduate school. The State Department didn't want me to save it so I washed dishes at Leon's Italian American Restaurant, up 16th street more or less from the White House. Great Experience. I was in graduate school at Princeton for three years before I left with my wife for what was called Woodlark Island in what is now Papua New Guinea--the island's indigenous name is Muyuw. I was there from July 1973 to August 1975; my wife left in March '75 to start a graduate program in American Studies at the University of Minnesota. She was also pregnant with our first child, Kate, born on August 8, 1975, about a week before I could return. In 1977 I got a one-year position teaching at the University of Virginia which turned into the place for my career. I retired in the Spring of 2022. I remain active, still visiting Muyuw and China for research and writing. Both are sort of second and third homes for me. 2016 was my first real return to RHS activities and people, aside from a visit in 2004 (or 05 ) yo run the Twin Cities Marathon and see a few of you. I have much enjoyed visiting with people since 2016. May it all last for a few more years!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
