I was born and raised in Sauk City and after graduating from UW Madison I left Wisconsin and went to Mexico City to live and teach English for a year. At that time I met my ex-husband, married and returned to work in a suburb of Chicago as a Spanish translator.
From there we came to California in 1977 and I went to work in the Spanish and Portuguese Department at the University of California, Irvine. In February of 1980 I moved to the School of Social Ecology where I have been ever since. I started out as an advising assistant, became an academic counselor for undergraduate students and since 2004 have been working exclusively with graduate students as the Director of Graduate Student Services.
Along the way (1983) I had my daughter, Carina, who just graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a BA in Anthropology. I also managed to get my MAT (Masters of Arts in Teaching) in Spanish in 1996.
I'm a golfer who has not been on the links for quite awhile. I retired in September 2009 after working at the University of California, Irvine for 32 years.
Living in southern California has its advantages (great weather!) and it's disadvantages (state teetering on the brink of bankruptcy!). All in all it's been a great place to live and work.
I'm looking forward to being able to come back to the midwest more often now that I've retired (in the good months...=)). Hope to be able to meet up with folks when I do.
Although my Mom and Dad are gone, as is my brother John, my sister-in-law Linda still lives in Sauk and one sister (Jan) and one brother (Jim) live in Madison.
Sorry I had to miss the reunion, but I'll make the 45th! =)

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
