Today's Featured Biography
Don Calvert
A decade's worth of life in a small chunk of text. That always seems like a trivializing endeavor. Aw, what the ****, I'll give it a shot. Since we last gathered I have stumbled my way through a couple new experiances to go along with our wanders into the Alaskan bush in search of the elusive virgin (undecayed) molar, rearing a son from toddler to scarey driver and doing almost anything that has to do with enjoying this amazing planet that we have been trusted with messing up.
My first, latest endeavor and the sourse of Jill calling herself a baseball widow is that I have been the reliving my fond memories on the PHS baseball team and following the inspiration of Guy Parkman. I am in my sixth year as the head baseball coach of the Liberty Bell High School Mountain Lions Baseball Program. My staff and I took over a program about to go under on a parking lot of a field and in 2 years made a state appearance and last year the boys were North Central 2B league champs on one of the prettiest fields in north central Washington. We are currently 7-2 and undefeated in 6 games in league this year.
Our son, Riley is a sophomore and starting at second base when he isn't organizing booze parties while on college tours at Wazzu. He is the joy of my life and a great young man, excellent scholar and full of confidence. He sometimes lets his reputation get out in front of his character but didn't we all (Mary, a little purple paint on the bumper?).
My second unpaid job has been sitting on the Methow Valley school board for the last 11 years. That has been a real eye opener and very intellectually stimulating.
Jill, Riley and I fill the rest of the time with horsing, hiking, skiing, biking, multiday raft trips and wandering the globe. We spent 7 weeks in China 2 summers ago and came away wondering how that "crowd" owns us as much as they do. That place is on a collision course with catastrophe ecologically and emotionally. In the last 10 years we also squeezed in lengthy trips to Viet Nam, Cambodia, South Africa, Botswana, Egypt, Italy and Missouri. Yes Victoria Falls is that amazing. Looking forward to seeing yall and expanding on old lies.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
