Today's Featured Biography
Catherine Markey Erlanger
I guess that you could call me a "traveling law librarian". I have lived in many places since PHS and had many jobs that I loved:
Denton, TX (earned BA degree, married Gilbert Porter upon graduation);
Eugene, OR (Dir of Language Arts & taught high school English in Creswell, Oregon -- I was also Senior Class Adviser, Yearbook & Newspaper Adviser, NHS Adviser and, in my spare time director of extra curricular drama -- it was a very small logging town meanwhile Gil taught freshman comp & worked on his PhD in Contemporary American fiction);
Houston, TX (gave birth my son, Phillip & was a faculty wife while Gil taught freshman composition & lit at U of H);
Eugene, OR (held many campus jobs to finance grad school for two while earning MS in Librarianship & divorced Gilbert -- he got the PhD);
Charlottesville, VA (Legal Reference & Circulation Librarian at U of VA School of Law Library);
Austin, TX (Federal Documents Librarian, U of TX School of Law Library -- I left my UVa job to move nearer to my parents after Dad had a stroke);
Houston, TX (Law Librarian, Vinson & Elkins law firm -- I left my UT job to be closer to my parents after Mom was diagnosed with leukemia. Mom & Dad passed while I lived in Houston);
San Francisco, CA (Dir of Research for Legal, Legislative & Bank Tax Depts Worldwide at Bank of America & met a wonderful man from Greenwich, CT, on flight back to SF from NYC office);
Greenwich, CT (Left my BofA job to move to CT to marry Mr. Wonderful and adopted a daughter, Yolanda; took a job as Law School Market Mgr for Lexis/Nexis; then became Law Office Mgr at NYPA Legal Dept & held other NYPA jobs until I retired).
Dick and I are both retired and are living in New Canaan, CT, with a feisty little dog named Lulu.
Two of my grandsons (ages 17 & 15) are in Reno, NV, and the third one (who is 19) is about to become a Marine as did his mother, father and grandfather before him. Two of my granddaughters (ages 7 & 5) are in Charlotte, NC. And, I have two more granddaughters (ages 19 & 15) in Columbia, MO.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
