Today's Featured Biography
Mark Gowing
I can’t believe its been 20 years. I’m starting to feel old! After graduating from high school I went into the Army where I served 4years as an airborne infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Div at Ft. Bragg, NC. I was a proud graduate of airborne, air assault and ranger schools. After getting out of the Army I returned home and started attending classes at A-B Tech. I had a class with Marsha Rice, Vicki’s sister and in a conversation Lisa Harkleroad’s name came up. Soon Lisa and I were dating and a year or so later we got married. I transferred to Western Carolina Univ where I majored in marketing, business & ROTC.
After graduating and receiving a commission I went back in the Army and Lisa and I packed up and moved to Germany. We lived in a small town in southern German called Vilseck. While living in Europe we traveled to 22 different countries. There is a saying in the Army that, “ when you go to Germany you’ll come back with a grandfather clock or a baby”. We came back with both! Our son Ross was born in Amburg on a cold snowy day in Feb. Six months after Ross was born I was deployed on a peace keeping mission to Macedonia. Macedonia is a small 3rd world country sandwiched between Serbia in the north and Greece in the south. After returning from Macedonia we finished up our tour and returned to the States. We lived at Ft. Knox, Ky while I was attending several command and staff schools. Once all the courses were completed we were transferred to Ft Hood, Tx. The day that I reported in, the unit was notified that we were going to Bosnia. So a few months later I packed up and left on another 7 month tour. Lisa kept the home fires burning in Texas while I was trying to survive the Bosnia winter sleeping on a cot in a shack.
Once I returned to the good ole US of A I decided a career change was needed. I could not stand to leave Lisa or the kids again. After some searching I accepted a position with Ford Motor Company in Louisville Ky at the Kentucky Truck Plant where we make Super Duty pick ups. I am the production manager for the body shop. We run 3 crews, 7 days a week in a 1,000,000,000 sq ft shop. If you are in the market for a new Ford let me know!
Most of my free time is spent doing family activities, watching Ross playing sports and riding dirt bikes. I still like the Dolphins, and its been a long drought in Miami. Lisa and I went to NYC a couple of years ago and we met Dan Marino. Of course Lisa, who doesn’t even like the Fins has to go up and hug him!!!
God has blessed me with a great family, good health, and happiness. Lisa and I are looking forward to seeing everyone!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
