Today's Featured Biography
Phyllis Campbell McConnell
Married Bud McConnell in 1957. Worked for two years in the IBM office of Maurer-Neurer meat packing at Ark City, then was a stay-at-home mom for many years, (speaking only looney tune language and helping out in school and community efforts.) Went back to school when our last two kids were in High School, and two in college, obtaining my degree and State Board exams as a Registered Nurse in 1982. By this time, our daughter, Karen was married, and had our first grandson. I worked in Wellington for four years, and in Blackwell for 19+ years, retiring as Nursing House Supervisor,in 2005, but staying on the part time basis, meaning I can work if I feel like it; a nice feeling. Karen now lives near Aspen, Colorado. Ron and Linda in Braman, OK, and he works at GE/Ark City. Mike and Sharon live near me in South Haven. Becky is in Plano, TX, but hopes to relocate next Spring to Colorado. Bud and I divorced in 1997. We have eight grandchildren. Ryan graduated from WSU, and now lives in South Haven. Matt completed college at NOC, is married, living in Braman. He and Katie blessed us with our first Great-Granddaughter on Oct. 19th this year! Megan is at Colorado U in Boulder, Kay Anne is at Okla. City U, and Kaitlin is at WSU. Erin & Breanna are in High School, and James is in elementary school. I'm happy to say, they're all fine kids; smart, good looking and likeable. (I know, you are all saying the same thing!) I'm enjoying my almost-retirement, keeping up with friends, and enjoying the blessings of a good life and good health. The only drawback to retirement, is that now that I have more time for travel, I have less money to do it. It's very good to have this opportunity to keep in touch with friends.
