      Today's Featured Biography

	Leaan Williams Williams-Rahman

Since leaving TJ, went to CU, decided it was not quite right for me, though met lifelong friends there. Worked a couple years in the hospitality industry in the sales and catering office and decided after my aneurysm and was so lucky to not be totally brain dead, or dead, I went back and got my BA in Interior Architecture from CSU. Again made some lifelong friends and had a great experience there. Worked for Moore and Co using my degree for about 7 years and decided that was not contributing to humanity like I wanted. So took a huge pay cut and worked for Red Cross for almost 10 years in health education. Then I became extremely ill and had to work sporadically, but learned even greater compassion and worked with war-torn refugees and immigrants. I had two kosovo refugees living with me for a couple years, and surprise now one is returning to live with us. Us, being, my husband Khalil and myself. I had several long term relationships, but knew they would not be permanent, when it came to marrying them as they wanted, I just couldn’t. I had just begun to think I had made a mistake and was going to be alone all my life, when I met Khalil, and knew that we were most definitely not perfect people, but a perfect fit for each other and he was who I had hoped and dreamed of for so long.
Been happily seeing unusual parts of the world others do not normally get to see with my husband Khalil. We were ready to return to the USA, I was easily accepted back in, unfortunately he has a name that is like others who are not such an humanitarian and with such sweet kindness as my husband has and was not allowed back in yet. This means we cannot live together and raise our new family while he is stuck in Swat NWFP. This is where he went to help Pakistani earthquake victims with the USA’s blessing, telling us no problem with him returning to the USA! Is this irony or typical US government? Khalil went to Pakistan as a medical volunteer with full support from me. As a doctor born in Pakistan, with his family still there and our soon to be adoptive children waiting to come to USA how could either of us say no. His staying there is not a bad thing because of his helping injured there and family, but financially and emotionally not a great place in our lives right now. He is working sometimes days on end without sleep for over a year and ½ and it is wearing him down. We actually pay money for Khalil to be over there, we no longer have his income and I went to part-time work because I’ve gone back to get my masters in botanical art illustration and was hoping to go on with education in international relations, coming out of a few years of ill health, etc. so rather feels like we are back in the living month-to-month –check-to-check again. But we are grateful for meeting our perfect match and are so happy we found each other even while living apart.

If the USA does not let him back by this fall when I have completed my masters, we will meet in another country, another great adventure, and possibly live there for some time. We know soon that things will turn around for us. He was really looking forward to my High School reunion to see how it was and is for people I was growing up with, but unless the US government works this out soon that will not happen. I am looking forward to seeing several people I grew up with and lost touch with, people I grew up with from elementary school. Hope you all come, especially Sharon, Toni, Jim, Karen, Paula, Maria …..and the rest of the “gang”, you all know who you are. Even if you cannot come, or only attending one piece of the reunion, please email me and tell me when you will be attending and about your lives. We can at least keep up with each other through yearly holiday letters. Blessings to all - Leaan

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
