Today's Featured Biography
Ken Jennison
Married my high school sweetheart (Kathy) and my soul mate on January 10, 1976 and we have been married 45 years now, enjoying retired life together. All four kids are married and we have 10 grandchildren. Our oldest son Nick works in sales and construction; Luke is an Assistant Principal at our local Catholic grade school, Coeellen is a stay at home mom and is pursuing real estate, and our youngest Kallen, is a fire fighter in the local department. It is a real blessing to be around all of our kids and grandkids.
I retired in June of 2019 after 43 years in railroad bridge design and engineering. I went to Colorado State for my undergraduate degree, started working for Burlington Northern Railroad out of college, moved to Minnesota and obtained my graduate degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Minnesota. I retired from BNSF Railway in 2008 after 32 years and started a railroad bridge design group with a consulting engineering firm named Olsson Associates. I retired from consulting engineering in 2019. My wife Kathy worked for 40 years in the health care industry spending the last 25 years as an office nurse here in the Kansas City area.
We have been lucky enough to travel with our extended family to a couple of exotic locations in the Caribbean and south Pacific. Our next location though is to vacation out in the mountains of Colorado.
Our grandkids range in age from 15 years to 2 and they are truly a joy to get together with.
In our spare time, Kathy and I enjoy gardening around home, and certainly travelling, when allowed to. Our last trip together overseas was to the Holy Land and Italy, and, once travel restrictions are lifted again, we hope to make it back.
Other activities I am involved with is mentoring a high school student (again, on hold because of the virus) and facilitating a men's bible study group.
I do really enjoy getting in the kitchen too, to improve on and develop new culinary skills. I try to show my kids a thing or two. My homemade marinade is black gold and the secret recipe is available only to immediate family members who are sworn to secrecy.
