Today's Featured Biography
Chris Barrett
After graduation, I took a year to work at Godfather's Pizza as a delivery driver, then attempted to enter the National Guard for the college assistance, but didn't quite make it due to a medical fubar. I started at UAF in Fall 1988 and stayed there three years, working on Journalism first in print, then in broadcasting. In 1991 I moved to Anchorage and transfered to UAA, which was probably a mistake in terms of finishing my degree, which I never did, because of different requirements and changing degree course to Business/Accounting. I got a radio job as the graveyard DJ on 105.3 KNIK "the Breeze" in the summer of 1992. I met my wife Lisa during this time and we got engaged around Christmas, and got a job with Fritz Companies, a Customs Broker for FedEx at the Anchorage airport in March 1993. Lisa and I were married in July. In April 1994 I passed the US Customs Broker exam and received my license in the fall. Both of our daughters were born in Anchorage. In October 1998 we moved with Fritz to an open position for a Broker in Boise, ID, but this only lasted 16 months as Fritz centralized all brokerage operations in Dallas, TX, so we moved there. That was a monumental flop within a year, and Fritz was purchased by UPS, but I was able to arrange a move back to the Auburn, WA office, and we moved to Puyallup, WA in May 2001. I left UPS for Exel Global Logistics in January 2003, then joined NNR Global Logistics in August 2005. Lisa has been able to stay at home with the girls since we moved to Boise, and is now watching a couple kids during the day. Tori is a bright girl and a dancer, especially with tap but also ballet and lyrical. Aimee has also danced tap and ballet, but is moving over to soccer, having just made her first select team. I pretty much just work, with a little golf thrown in and trying to get to the gym twice a week. We also have Seahawks season tickets for the last three years. We are trying to see if I can make it up for the reunion this summer and who all can join me.
