Today's Featured Biography
Thomas Donahoe
I attended OHS only my freshman and sophomore years. I transferred to St. Martin's for junior year - not the best decision, but all the guys from grade school (St. Michael's) were there. We moved to San Mateo, CA in 1951, and I completed HS there. I got a B.A. from St. Mary's College and returned to the northwest for grad school at UW, receiving a M.A. in Eng. Lit. in 1958. The next two years were spent in the army, stationed in Seoul, Korea. I spent 27 years with the telephone industry -- Pacific Bell, AT&T, Pacific Telesis. I finished up as president of Pacific Telesis Foundation. In retirement I have been active with nonprofit orgs. in arts, culture, and education. I continue to be very active with our performing arts center in Walnut Creek, where, among other things, I founded and continue to produce a jazz series (www.lesherjazz.org). I also spend considerable time on photography. In the last couple of years I've exhibited frequently around town. Nancy Marshall and I married in 1969. Our two children Julie (speech therapist) and Joel (attorney) live just over an hour away. We have two grandchildren - Joel's Caroline (7) and Ryan (2). Julie has 2 step children in college. I found turning 80 to be exhilarating.
