Today's Featured Biography
Pamela Winkelman Burkwall
After graduating from high school, I spent my first year of school at Columbia College in South Carolina. I did not fit in very well and was rather homesick, so I transferred to the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. I worked towards a bachelors degree, but wound up graduating with an Associate degree in Applied Business, International Office Administration in May 1993.
I returned home to Dayton and worked temporary jobs until I could get a permanent position. I was hired by the U.S. Army as a civilian Military Personnel Clerk at the Columbus MEPS in Columbus, OH. I moved to Columbus in 1994. In 2000, I reentered college at Ohio Dominican University; I graduated with my Bachelor degree in English Language and Literature in 2003. While attending school, I worked as a security guard full-time at night and went to classes full-time in the day.
In 2004, I met my first husband, James Tierney. We had our first child, John McGregor Tierney, on May 20, 2005. James and I officially married in July 2008 in Texas and divorced in June 2011. I worked as a teacher's aide in special education while I attended graduate school online through the University of Phoenix. I earned a Master of Arts in Education in ELA Curriculum & Instruction. Once I completed the program, my intention was to teach high school English with a focus on British literature and creative writing.
Currently, I am married to John Burkwall. My husband is the music director and organist for a Lutheran church in Conroe. We married on June 25, 2016 in Conroe, TX. My son is in 6th grade and is an "A" student and on honor roll. He is also a boy scout and is working toward eagle scout. His hope is to become a civil engineer. I am in the middle of finding work that is more suitable to my abilities and health issues. I'm working as a substitute teacher but hope to find a full-time clerical job, if possible.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
