Today's Featured Biography
Ramona Munsey Acord
Married August 27, 1960 to David Acord. I had finished 2 years at the University of Dayton, completing the Cadet Education Program. This meant that I completed my last two years of college first and could teach without my degree (remember the teacher shortage then). While teaching I would go to night school and summer school to complete my first two years. Dave and I went to Ohio State where he went to school and started our married life together. We lived in married student housing and loved having other married couples interact with us and socialize without any money. Dave transferred back to the University of Dayton and I started teaching in Centerville. I taught there until we went to Houston, Texas in 1981. Before this my two sons were born, we moved to a 25 acre farm in New Lebanon and became engaged in horse, cow, chickens and other varieties of animals which my sons showed at the Montgomery County Fair for 4-H. Dave ran his own Landscaping Business and used his English Major degree to write short stories, poetry and novels. We stayed in Houston until 1991, when Dave and my son Marty moved back to Dayton and setup business again. I stayed in Houston to "get my Texas retirement where I wanted it" and continued to teach in Alief, Texas (southwest Houston). I taught Computer courses in the 1200 student middle school there. Matt my son went to the University of Texas in Austin, married and had my only grandson, Nicholas, went into the Navy Seebees and started "seeing the world". I came back to Dayton in 1996 and started teaching in Dayton Public Schools. We bought 9 acres in Centerville and operated the business from there. The business changed to reflect my son, Marty's interest (operating heavy equipment to do landscaping and using the internet to sell custom high performance engines. This led us to buy a salvage yard business in Xenia across from Kil-kare's dragstrip start line. WE also sold the place in Centerville and bought one in Beavercreek. Later this was also sold (too much work) and we bought a smaller home in East Dayton. UPDATE - (01/05-10) I had my knee replacement on May 12, 2009, and am doing great. Anyway, I moved back into Harrison Township. I live on Shiloh Dr, the street by Shiloh Park off Markey Rd. It is wonderful, large trees and nature.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
