Richard Crawford
After graduating, I attended TOSU, was asked to leave, joined the US Army Special Forces Reserve, became a radio operator, paratrooper. ski trooper and soon a civilian. Taught and coached three sports at Amanda-Clear-creek. Married Nedra in 1968. Returned to TOSU
and graduated with a BS in education. We moved to Maryland where we taught for nine years ( Montgomery County Schools) received masters degrees in Special Education, before that John Kegley was our professor in a masters program for Guidance and Counseling bought and refurbished our first house, then built a custom home. Our first child was born, Laurenz, and very soon after I recommitted my life to Jesus Christ and we were off to the mission field. We lived in Guatemala, Central America (so much for the bravado of "I'll never need to know Spanish") I served as the principal of a missionary school K-12 and later we provided a shelter for women who wanted to leave a life of prostitution, acholism and or drug addiction and become new creations in Chirst. Out of that shelter local female leadership was developed and a foster home for girls has been established. We returned to the USA twelve years later, with two more children. Andrew and Deborah, two other children had died previously due to birth defects.
Since 1993 I have taught at Wedgewood Middle School yes, the one with the lesbians in the boiler-room. I 've taught Language Arts- the difference between language arts and English, would be
in English a book is read the a written report is submitted, but, LA a book is read and ten pictures are drawn or cut and pasted, especially if its a collage preparation course-. I always wanted to teach American History, now I do - to 8th graders!
In 1996 we moved a house from Karl Rd to Cooke Rd. I'm and elder in my church, Life-bridge Christian Missionary Alliance. All our children are out of the house and pursuing their dreams and functioning independently. We love to travel, and visited the middle east, Iran. Abu Dahbi,India and Egypt and will be going to Israel 6/08.
Through trips with my wife's school Tree of Life we' ve gone to Spain, Morocco and Costa Rica.
