Today's Featured Biography
Tawnya Fanning Braeutigam
It's been said that I left Artesia so fast after graduation, I still had my cap and gown on. Not quite, but close. I moved to Arlington, TX (in the middle of Dallas/Ft. Worth)and attended Bauder Fashion College. After I got my degree, I went into the fashion industry for a whole 7 months. This small town girl learned a lot in those few years. One of which was, I had no idea how competitive that industry was, and the other is, no matter how skinny I was (and I emphasize 'WAS'), I was still too short to be a fashion model!!! So I fell back on those 4 years of high school Office Procedures and took a job at a travel agency. Shortly after that I went to work at a food brokerage for 17 years. I met my husband, soul mate and best friend, David and we were married in 1987. We were so content with our lives, we 'chose' not to have children. We have 2 cats instead.
David has been with Baylor Health Care System for over 30 years and is the Director of Biomedical Engineering Clinical Technology Services. (No, he is NOT a Neurosurgeon, there was a rumor....) He seems to like it and I continue to nod my head when he talks about work, as if I know what he's talking about. I still love him.
I recently was laid off from my job as the Operations Manager at a packaging distributor and broker of over 10 years. The increasing petroleum prices and declining economy was killing our little company. It was a dream job and I miss it, but I have faith in God and know he has other plans for me, I just need to be patient.
My family still lives in Artesia and I get back there a couple of times a year. I can't say that I miss Artesia, but I do miss my family and friends. I also miss those Friday nights at Bulldog Bowl!!!
