I was teaching at Lynn Junior High School in Las Cruces, NM where, in 1962, I met Jack Zika, the band director at the school. We married in 1963 and moved to El Paso, TX and both of us were teaching at Burgess High School. Our twin girls were born in Oct. 1964 and I didn't continue my career. We moved to Golden, CO in 1966 and our son arrived in 1968. Those were busy years with raising the children. At one time we all played an instrument in the church orchestra which had 55 members.
In 1982 I returned to work in the accounting department for the Jefferson County Public School District and was in the Purchasing Dept. when I retired after 20 years.
Now that we had time to travel,we took several trips to Europe and Hawaii. In 2006 we took our son, Steve, with us to Eastern Europe to see his heritage. Jack's grandmother was born in Prague. In 2007, we took Steve and his sister, Janet, to Ireland and Scotland (my background).
Colorado as a state offers plenty of activities. I belonged to the Colorado Mountain Club and went on many mountain hikes. I only climbed two 14ers but plenty of the 13,000 ft mountains. Tent camping was fun but my back told me to give it up! I enjoyed race walking events and even have some medals but two "scope" surgeries on my knee persuaded me to quit. Jack and I are busy with church activities. He plays trumpet with the praise group and I teach an Adult Bible class.
Janet remarried in Jun, 2013 and we have a delightfu new son-in-law. Her two children live about 30 miles north of Atlanta. Steve is a computer engineer for Northrop-Grumman in Virginia. Jennifer is a senior software analyist for Motorola which has an office near Boulder, CO. She and Denny have two children and one grandchild.
Life has been good and I am grateful for the foundation and growing up years spent in Artesia.
Jack and I are now great grandparents. Each granddaughter had a baby girl. Isn't life grand!!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
