Today's Featured Biography
Jessie Jo Funk Curtin
After graduation, attended ENMU for two years, transferred to University of Wisconsin/Madison, graduated with degrees in psychology and sociology. Met and married the very wild and crazy Dan Curtin. We moved to Dallas, TX for 7 years, I became a "headhunter" recruiter in the high tech industry. We took off a year in 1976 (and missed the first class reunion!) and travelled in Europe and North Africa in the proverbial VW van - what a great experience!
Shortly after returning to Dallas, relocated to the SF Bay Area, opened up 3 recruiting offices for the Dallas firm. After 5 years, opened my own job fair production company specializing in high tech and biotech. Sadly, was divorced during this time but remain close friends with my ex.
After 15 years and opening 6 businesses across the country, I was lucky enough to sell Career Expo to the Washington Post and retire. Yea! I travelled to SE Africa and the West Coast of South America on extended camping/hiking trips and had a blast with a gang of international folks I am still in touch with.
For unexplainable reasons, I moved to Las Vegas for 6 years(ugh)and became addictively involved with dog rescue, fostering and adoption as well as fundraising and training volunteers for the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society. In 2005, after several summers of searching across the west for a new and better place to live, moved to beautiful Eugene, Oregon with my 4 beloved dogs. I am finally HOME. I work with two animal rescue and spay/neuter organizations, garden a LOT (just throw it on the ground and it will grow here!), and enjoy hiking, travelling and having friends come stay with me in my comfy country home in wine country. In spite of the pesky gray hair, wrinkles and body that refuses to still do all I think it should, life is indeed good and I feel extremely fortunate.
