Carole Link Fleming

Carole Link Fleming passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday October 10, 2017.        Carole was born on December 1, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA to Edward Link and Nellie Wanda (Maslyk) Link.
Her parents were both in the Army/Air Force and the family moved many times to several different states throughout Carole’s younger years. Carole graduated from Portsmouth High School in NH and when Carole turned 18 she moved to Arizona. During the 1967 “Summer of Love”, she moved to San Francisco.        Carole loved the outdoors. Carole learned to scuba dive and earned her pilot’s license while living in Arizona. She loved to hike, especially with her husband, Myles. A favorite place she and Myles loved to go was Point Reyes. Carole was also an artist with quite a knack for crafting decorations, party favors, or home décor. Carole also enjoyed designing clothes and accessories. Carole was passionate about helping others through generous donations of time, funds, and clothing as well as her tremendous commitment to volunteering.         Over several years, Carole worked for Crocker Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. Her last position before her health forced her to retire, was at Project Open Hand (POH). Her position at POH allowed her to spend her time doing some of the things she loved most: giving to others, donating her time, and improving the lives of others in any way she could. Through her work at POH, Carole made many lifelong friendships which she cherished, including working with Tom Nolan, whom she was “proud to work for.”        Carole adored her cat Felis, who passed earlier this year, as well as her newest feline friend Lilly, who brought her much joy and companionship during their time together.        Carole is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Myles Fleming; a daughter Susan Lalime and her husband Chadd of NH; grandchildren Chelsea, Chadd Jr., and Peter Lalime also of NH: a sister Patricia Stewart of Washington State; a brother John Link and his wife Kati, of Massachusetts; and nieces and nephews. Carole was predeceased by her parents and two sisters Marion Strawn and Janet Roemer.         Services will be held on Thursday October 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary,
500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City, CA 94014        In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carole’s name, may be made to:        Project Open Hand, San Francisco SPCA, or the American Cancer Society.
