Mike Hanneman

After graduating HS, I went to work for the largest financial institution in the world (in 1989 it was) in Citibank as a collector/customer service associate for Visa and MasterCard accounts worldwide. I worked my way up the ranks and became a manager in 1999. I managed over 30 clerical, mailroom, and telephone collections personnel which were some of the finest people I’ve ever known and had the pleasure to work with. I married Amy (Smith) in 1992 after dating and being engaged a total of 3 years. We bought our first home in Blue Springs in 1993 which was a nice little ranch style home near Blue Springs Park and 40 highway. We had our first and only child a precious little girl Rachel Nicole on Oct. 12, 1996. In 2002, after 10 years of marriage, Amy and I divorced. On April 28, 2002 I became baptized and have dedicated my journey to serving God and helping others.

I left Citibank in 2003, moved to Platte City, MO and currently work 2 jobs. My primary job is a career that I can actually say I love after being in the workforce for more than 23 years. I am a certified financial and credit counselor where I help clients nationwide manage and pay off their unsecured debt. I also provide housing, bankruptcy, and credit report counseling which can be done face to face, by telephone, or over the internet. My second job is a part time job working in the men’s clothing and suit department at Macy’s Metro North Mall in the evenings and on the weekends. I am also a Sunday school teacher at the First Christian Church of Platte City for the high school students where we learn all about God’s grace, love, and purpose for our lives.

I have published 3 books since 2003 (“When I was a little boy”, “Faith”, and “God’s Will”) detailing many of my life events, successes, failures, lessons learned, along with some poetry and insight from other biblical authors and much more inspiration and encouragement that I hope will help others on their journey. In my “spare” time, as if working 2 jobs, being a single parent, and teaching Sunday school left me any, my daughter and I are like two peas in a pod. I love being a father. We have a great relationship and spend a lot of time together. We also enjoy and appreciate the simple things in life. We enjoy watching movies, miniature golf, hanging out with friends, bowling, attending church, and every now and then we go roller and ice skating. When the weather is nice, we love to be outdoors walking, running, or swimming at the pool.

I look forward to getting together and seeing everyone for our 20th reunion since I was unable to attend any of the other reunions. I cannot believe it has been 20 years!
