Kenneth (BUZ) Johnson
Ken grad. spring of '61 Sue grad. midterm, Jan. '62. Sue attended Pittsburg St. Coll., Ks. 2 yrs. then Bolton Fashion Design School & Grad. '64. Ken and Sue (Hainline) married in May, '64. Sue worked at Harzfeld's on the Plaza till Ken Grad. K. C. Art Institute with a BFA in 1965. 1st job as an Industrial Designer for Borg-Warner in West Virginia in '66. First child, Amy, born '66. Second child, David, born '70. Transferred to Cobourg, Ontario, Canada in '70. Back to West Virginia in '72 as Mkt. Dev. Mgr. for Extrusion Polymers till '77. Tech. Sales Rep. for TEKNOR Apex Co. in Columbia, Mo. '77 & '78. Self-Employed General Contractor in the Columbia area '78 thru '89. Sr. Mfg. Eng. at Orscheln Brake Co. in Moberly, Mo. '89 thru '91 and Corporate Facilities Engineer '91 through '94. Sr. Products Engineer for Midway Arms / USA '94 thru '96. Prototype Eng. Supervisor for DURA Automotive Systems in Moberly Mo. '96 to 6/16/'04, Techincal Sales Rep. for Duggan Manufacturing 06/16/ '04 to present date. Sue worked for Dillard's 12.5 yrs., at Premier Lighting store 5 yrs., did inventories part time for RGIS inventory Specialists till 08/28/'04 when she was taken from us in a car / train collision at a country crossing. After 43 years together I miss her so much.
Daughter Amy is married to Norman Hopkins and they have a Daughter, Allison. Son David is Married to Meg and they have 3 sons, Lee, Logan and Lane and a daughter Lilly. All live nearby their proud grandparents.
Ken's still a car nut and currently has TWO 1987 Buick Grand Nationals, 1 with over 275,000 miles on it, another with 80,000 miles on it, a 1947 Fiat Topolino, purchased in 1965, in process to street rod. Ken's driving a 1997 Suburban 3/4 ton with 454" motor (not too stylish but it works well for towing the car trailer and prairie dog shooting trips to Wyoming). If you are shopping for obsolete car or gun parts on ebay Ken's user name is shadetreebuz. He enjoys antiquing and collecting.
I hope to hear from some of you and find out about our next class reunion. Sue & I missed the class of '61 40th if one was held. We attended the class of '62 40th reunion and really enjoyed it. I'm really pleased that she got to see so many Blue Springs friends especially now that she's gone. Her class of '62 friends were well represented at her visitation and memorial services. Thank you.
I'm sure I appreciate and attempt to enjoy every day more than I did before her death and I hope all of you will, too.
