Helmer Jensen III

After BSHS, I attended Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, and graduated with a BS in Business Admin in 1989. Shannon and I married later that year and I went on staff with SBU in the admissions department until her graduation the next year. Worked for EBE in KC selling commercial fax machines before securing a position handling injury claims with State Farm. Worked in claims for 5 years before taking an agency in Thayer, MO. This had been a long term dream of mine to own and run my own business and it was finally realized on a small scale. After working as a State Farm agent for 7 years, God called us into the mission field to serve in an administrative support role. We sold and gave away almost all our possessions and left for Lisbon, Portugal in 2004 for a year of language and culture study. Our family then transitioned to Luanda, Angola where I served as the Logistics Coordinator until the end of our first missionary term. After a year in the US, we returned to Africa to wait for the issuance of our Angolan visas. During that time we were asked to consider staying in South Africa to handle the logistics for the Cape provinces in SA and Angola as a satellite country since I now speak Portuguese. We accepted the reassignment and have really enjoyed the new challenges presented. I am thankful to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the call he has placed on my life. I have seen, smelled, tasted, and heard things I never thought I'd experience. The scrawny misfit kid I was in high school has grown up and matured, but I still have great memories of my formative years at BSHS. Força Wildcats!
