Lee Thompson

Chaplain, Colonel (Ret), Lee Thompson served as the Chief of Voluntary and Pastoral Care Services for the Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) from July of 2005 to January of 2016. He began his 45 year government career as an enlisted artilleryman in the United States Army from 1968-1969, completing one tour of duty in South Vietnam. He left active duty to resume his education in 1969. In 1979 Chaplain Thompson entered active duty with the United States Air Force. He has served as a Protestant Chaplain, a Senior Protestant Chaplain, a Wing Chaplain and a Command Chaplain. He was also assigned to the Office of the Command Chaplain, Air Force Space Command with duties as Director of Plans, Programs, and Personnel. He was assigned to the Office of the Command Chaplain, Air Combat Command and served as Director of Readiness and Director of Plans/Professional Development. His later assignments included Command Chaplain, Headquarters United States Special Operations Command and his final military assignment was to the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland. During his career, Chaplain Thompson served in the Vietnam conflict, Operation Desert Storm, Bosnia and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Family:
Chaplain Thompson is an ordained minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He and his wife Mali (Kilen) were both born and raised in Minnesota. They now make their home in Castle Rock, Colorado. They have three grown children: Erik (Chicago), Christian (San Antonio), and Mali Beth (Pittsburgh). They also have four grandchildren
